In a book for business leaders calledThe Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard, the authors say that employees eventually “[run] out of self-control.” In other words, no matter how you try to light the fire inside people to be successful, you can’t force it. There’s something like that in the Christian life when it comes to obedience. We are our own worst bosses. We tell ourselves to do better, but keep stumbling. In this message, we learn from 1 John 5 how to overcome obstacles to obedience, not by worldly means, but through faith in Christ.
