Genesis 12:10–13:18 "Famine & Infighting"

In Genesis 12:1–9 God promises Abram a people through an offspring, protection even through hardship, and a place to call home. Here in chapters 12–13, we learn that when God makes promises, they get tested in our lives, and as a result, we also are tested. The passage before us tells us two stories, and each one puts God’s promise under the microscope and tests Abram’s faith. We learn from them that when the Church faces challenges from the outside and from within, God proves that He is faithful.
